Another Darned Perspective on Cuba

Cardinal Jaime Ortega, the Pope's man in Havana, says his country is in its worst crisis of the 21st Century, and we are talking about a whole ten years here. The "Stalinist economy" blows; nobody's happy; the people are openly critical of the government. This from the organization that in the early 1960s frightened Cuban parents into giving up their children, sending them to strangers in the US. Better that than letting the Cuban government ship all kids aged 6 and up off to camps in the Soviet Union--that's what priests told their flocks. Which I mention just so we might bear in mind that not every word they say is the revealed word of God.
