Bicycle Cop Dave! Crime-Solving Kids! Socially Responsible Video! Rebecca Rocks the Times!
by Nathan Walpow
1. Bicycle Cop Dave. Our webcomic debuts Wednesday at 6:00 am PDT. Read it or weep. (By the way, all of our feature stories and fiction installments go up at 6 am Pacific time. In case you're ever on Jeopardy! and they ask about it.)
2. Meow.org: A Cat-Napping Caper is a mystery for young readers. Right, you're saying, Walpow's dropped dozens of not-so-subtle mentions of mysteries by him, Phillips, and their cronies, and here's yet another. Well, stop saying that. I don't even know the author. But the book's worth mentioning because its four heroes are children with disabilities, and that's rare.
3. Speaking of children with disabilities (how's that for a tacky segue?), our crony contributor Don Livoni put together a video for this year's Bridge School Benefit Concert, which happened this past weekend. This is the event Neil Young has been putting on for over twenty years to help the school. You can see the video here; the one with the concert name gives you the introduction, the kid with the drums to its right gets the whole video.
4. Rebecca Schoenkopf! New York Times! Our Becca's non-paean to Hall and Oates, reprinted in Best Music Writing 2009, is massively excerpted in the “Paper Cuts” blog. Yay, Becca!
