Build It Yourself

by Donna Schoenkopf

I found this little gem in the Mother Earth News (my new favorite magazine!) and want to share it with you.

I really enjoyed the whole process of home building. I am a retired school teacher, out of shape, and know nothing about any of it, but with my hero Peewee's expertise, we managed to erect my dream house. I built a steel building, but if that's not your style, check out the post and beam house you can build yourself (with one helper) in 15 weekends.

The company swears it won't let you fail. It says you can build a three bedroom, two bath house for $130,000 which will be valued at $250,000. Instant equity!
