Cruel Design to Piss You Off

by Tony Chavira

Okay, any right-minded person with enough brainpower to get by knows that homelessness is a blight on society that needs to end ASAP.  But while we work on a solution, there's no reason to be an asshole to poor people out there who are just trying to get by.  That's why this thing pisses me the hell off:

The Obama Administration recently (well, in early July) announced it's goals to end homelessness over the course of the next decade, which is awesome considering he's coupled that plan with a lot of little integrative strategies.  Naturally, putting spikes on benches to keep homeless people out of parks isn't one of them.  It's good to see that someone's doing something about the homeless problem though.  The administration's critics seem to have their own best intentions in mind...

(And yet, somehow polls show that the country favors these guys over Democrats right now in the mid-term elections?  I cannot possibly groan loud enough.)

Tony, it’s an art piece with the intention of showing how we try to monetize everything. It’s not meant to actually be used for its stated purpose!

Well, then the artist got from me exactly the kind of reaction he intended. Ha!
