Cuba to Free 52 Political Prisoners

by Jim Washburn

Cuba won't admit to having any political prisoners, but they're about to free 52 of them. The socialist island's government has always insisted it's jailed common thugs and paid mercenaries of the United States. Most of the world disagrees, and, after the death of one hunger striker in prisoner and the failing health of another, international pressure has increased to release the prisoners. Following recent meetings with Spanish and Roman Catholic Church officials, Cuba has agreed to release 52 prisoners in the coming months.

Now if we could only do something similar at Guantanamo.
