Cuba Update: Travel Babe in the Woods

by Nathan Walpow

We’ve got dates and we’re chompin’ at the bit. We’re arriving in Havana on March 18 and coming back on the 24th. Staying at the Hotel Nacional, which has Internet access, so we’ll be blogging from there, then hitting you up with all sorts of features on our return.

It’s weird, and it hasn't truly sunk in on me yet, that I’m going to a country that, though a mere 90 miles off the U.S. coastline, is (from everything I read) so different from what we’re used to. I’m not much of a world traveler; until two and a half years ago, I’d only been to Canada and Mexico. Then we went to Paris and London and Edinburgh. A good overseas start for this stay-at-home; the cities in Britain were, in comfort level terms, kind of like visiting a U.S. city I hadn’t been to. And Paris just added a different language, one that I speak a bit of, and anyway I’d been to Montreal.

But I’ve never been anywhere, well, foreign. I hope I don’t gawk.
