God Hates Faggots and Coal Miners
by Jim Washburn
This just in: Reverend Fred Phelps and members of his Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church are headed for the hills of Kentucky to cheer the deaths of the 25 or more coal miners there. They've previously protested everything from a Corona del Mar High School production of Rent to the funerals of our returning war dead, waving signs proclaiming "Thank God for Dead Soldiers" because its all God's punishment for our moral decay of allowing homosexuals in our midst, and now it seems even a coal mine shaft is looking a little too gay to Phelps.
The church issued a press release claiming, "The whole nation is awash in rebellious sin and defiance of God, His standard and His servant's faithful words...so God reached down and smacked one of those mines." That's God for you. He flies right over West Sunset, Castro Street, Christopher Street, Palm Springs and Anderson Cooper's house, to smite a bunch of coal miners in the hills.
Here's more in the New York Times.

I feel sorry for you, the only thing God hates is sin and that means all sin. Thy shalt not Judge is a sin, like our parents use to say, don’t say mean things about someone unless you have walked a mile in his shoes. IO don’t hate you but I do feel sorry for you, I pray for God to forgive you and I pray that you find the truth to salvation before you die. I can’t help but wornder what God you worship, my God is loveing and forgiving he does not hate his children he loves us unconditionally. Maybe you should study your bible. Please don’t come to West Virginia some family’s of our lost miners might not be as forgiving as I am. I do forgive you for your sins, but he will if you ask him, even with all the pain you have caused others but you have to ask forgiveness to the people you have hurt also.

In the NYT article, you find this from the church’s press release:
“Now you moan and wallow in self-pity, and pour over the details of the dead rebels’ lives, pretending they’re heroes.”
Pour over?
