How to Rebuild Haiti in Eight (Not-) Easy Steps

by Rebecca Schoenkopf

The New York Times gets wonky/urban-planny with eight (very short and readable) essays on how to rebuild. Among the ideas: don't put people in highrise projects, because then there's a distance between them and the street economy; hey, how about some clean water; let's use Guantanamo to stage relief deliveries; and Squatting, like skateboarding, Is Not A Crime.

Go ahead, read them: they're interesting! And don't you want to be ahead of the curve when we have the same conversation 'bout Los Angeles?

We are capable of building thousands of Haitian housing units.  We can produce earthquake-proof structures and employ local workers.
We require:
1] a mutually agreeable contract to produce such housing,
2] Government permits to allow this housing to be created,
3] full cooperation in obtaining building quality materials, supplies & tools, and
  4] security for our employees.
Thank you,
