I Get Letters
by Donna Schoenkopf
Judy, smart, healthy, conscious of the planet, and a person who, in her childhood, lived just south of where I live now. She emailed me after she read my story on staying in my freezing house for a week during the last freeze/snowstorm.
Here it is. Hope you like it. I sure did.
Hi Donna,
Beautiful. I felt cold just reading it! Great pix too.
You're right--it takes courage to jump out of a warm bed into a cold house. I remember as a kid pulling on ICY jeans, standing around the wood stove waiting for the room to warm up. I think most of the more well-off people forget what kinds of things the very poor have to deal with on a daily basis. I remember breaking the ice off the top of the water bucket to get a drink. Not whining, just recounting experience.
I'm like Tammy Faye Bakker--she said she always totally enjoyed taking a warm bath, b/c she grew up without such a luxury. Dolly Parton wore flour-sack panties--so did I. You made do w/what you had--a great skill.
Glad you're back in the pink!! My cats Bob and Petunia sleep close by me in these cold days. They love the down comforter.
Love,
Judy
