Is Sarah Palin a Fucking Retard? Colbert Thinks So

On his show a few nights back, Colbert was riffing on Palin riffing on Rush Limbaugh riffing on White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel calling congressional liberals a bunch of "fucking retards," a remark so insensitive to the feelings of the mentally disabled that commentators have made a point of making sure the remark, said in private behind closed doors, has been trumpeted over the airwaves so that everyone with two brain cells to rub together gets the point.
Conservative commentators have used Emanuel's remark as an example of how it's the Democrats, not they, who are making civility impossible in Washington, despite the fact that Emanuel was addressing members of his own party, behind closed doors. Limbaugh weighed in to give Emanuel a backhanded defense, saying it was just the dreaded political correctness at work to be upset with Emanuel for calling a bunch of people retards who, in his estimation, are retards, and Palin, who had called for Emanuel's resignation over the retard remark, then defended Rush's use of the word as "satire." Which brings us to this fine clip of Colbert putting things in perspective.
