L.A. Times Endorses Measure R

by Nathan Walpow

An editorial in today's L.A. Times endorses Los Angeles County Measure R, the half-cent sales tax increase for transportation projects. Good for them. We need it. The Times thinks there are better ways to raise the money, and maybe there are, but they ain't gonna happen soon, and this might. Rail, bus, and road improvements to what the they call our "Third World transit network" are included. What the editorial doesn't mention is that R is going to need a two-thirds vote to pass. Which seems kind of tough while the economy's as crappy as you all know it is. But we need it. Vote for Measure R, and tell all your friends to do so too. You'll be glad you did.
