My ULI Article: A Little Self-Promotion Goes A Long Way
by Tony Chavira
Not sure if you read this month's Urban Land Magazine (link here for your convenience) but there's an article in it about the reorganization of building code structures by none other than me.
It's thrilling, it's chilling, and it may make your brain melt out of your ears and nose. It may even force you to confront serious legal issues if you actually work in one of the many building departments throughout the country. But who cares? I'm throwing stones at the castle from the outside, let me have my fun.
Although the article's a little technical, if you've ever tried to upgrade a room, add a wing to or expand the garage on your home, you'll find the article interesting, I hope. It's titled "Classifying a Mixed-Use Interior" and basically has to do with what an interior space really is. What are the space's potential function and how do you really go about regulating what it will be used for when it might potentially have a thousand different purposes? Discuss.
Anyway, give it a glance and I hope it makes your brain quiver a little.
