New Homes

by Donna Schoenkopf

I have always been fascinated with architecture. It’s one of my favorite arts, if not THE favorite. So developments on that area have excited me to my tiptoes. Sort of like the first time I saw really new modern dance years ago. The breakthrough with dance was with shapes and movements that I had NEVER seen before. Like aliens had landed. I loved it. Ballet, which I love, had been done, for a long, long time. Even modern jazz had gotten banal. But this new stuff—wow.

And that’s how I feel about the new architecture. The new thinking. The new newness of it all. But in actuality it is taking the old, the primal and turning it into the truest forms and materials for us human beings. So here are two links to see some beautiful stuff being done. It’s environmentally conscious and blows my mind.

First, the tree house as you’ve never seen it before.

Then try the ecodome. Real purdy and easy.

And then, there’s Rachel, mother of five, who lives lightly on the earth. It’s not about her house. It’s about the little things.

Enjoy.
