Why bother with a high-speed rail when Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk wants to power a supersonic electric plane with a nuclear reactor! Check out the video of his interview with TechCrunch:
Musk's money quote: "Technically an electric plane gets more feasible as battery energy improves. It’s definitely feasible right now." Maybe we'll have a few nuclear transportation options by 2015. Maybe we'll see nuclear-powered flying DeLoreans. Just keep an eye out for time-travelling ones.
