Rocio Romero, I Love You!

by Donna Schoenkopf

Years ago when I was plotting my way to retirement and country living and home-ownership, my genius son, Eric, recommended a website called fabprefab.com.  On it I discovered Rocio Romero, a brilliant young architect who had a vision for affordable housing that I could relate to.  She designed with an artist's hand and a mind that understood the need for homes for people who didn't have a boatload of money.

Here is the link to a really lovely series of photographs of homes that were built from her home kit which people can purchase.  It's cheap.  (But the labor involved in putting it up might be prohibitive.  It was for me.)  But if you can afford about $100-150,000, you're in luck.

Click on "products" and then "LVL" to see what people around the country have done with her design.

Enjoy!
